History

The Institute of Turcology at Çankırı Karatekin University was established with the aim of conducting scholarly research and analysis on the historical, political, literary, social, cultural, and religious structures and conditions of Turkic and related communities both within the Republic of Türkiye and beyond its borders. Emphasizing a scientific methodology and interdisciplinary approach, the institute is dedicated to planning and coordinating projects and studies that contribute to strengthening the scientific, technological, artistic, cultural, religious, and economic ties that unite the Turkic World. It also undertakes publications to disseminate the findings of such efforts.

The establishment of the Institute was approved by the Council of Ministers on September 27, 2010, pursuant to Additional Article 30 of Law No. 2809, dated March 28, 1983, and upon the official request of the Ministry of National Education (Document No. 16446, dated September 15, 2010). This decision was published in Resmi Gazete (No. 27744) and entered into force on October 30, 2010. The institute was officially founded under the name "Institute of Turcology."
